The dress

Choosing your Dress

There’s a lot to consider when choosing “the dress.” You have to consider dress shape, designer as well as how much you are willing spend.

Most of us are familiar with the television show “Say Yes to the Dress.” The show features brides who often drop a pretty penny for some fabulous wedding gowns. However, it is still possible to purchase a wedding dress without spending such a large amount of money.

On average most brides spend around $1,000 on their dress not including accessories. Examine your budget and look up some dresses within your price range.

DO NOT TRY ON A DRESS THAT IS OUT OF YOUR PRICE RANGE.

It will only lead to heart break, and if you are willing to step outside of your budget you have to consider that you will only wear this dress once.

The dress should make you feel special, but it shouldn’t break the bank.

In order to feel so special it is important to know the different dress shapes that will compliment your body type.

The main dress shapes or silhouettes are ball gown, A-line and mermaid.

Ball gowns are good for body types with curves that are too defined.

A-line works for women who are curvier at the bottom rather than at the top.

Mermaid is flattering for women who are curvier at the top.

It’s best to make an appointment at bridal shops if you really want to get that “Say Yes to the Dress'” treatment.  That way your consultant can get a feel of what you want and make the most of your time.

The most important thing to keep in mind is that this is fun and exciting time. In other words don’t stress!

You’re going to try on some beautiful gowns. Whichever one you chose your husband-to-be will love you in it.
